I approach my newborn session from a baby led posing perspective. This means the baby can be awake or asleep. I also don’t force them into positions or formal poses. I capture the connection between your new baby and you! This could be at 2 weeks or 6 weeks. For me, it is all the same. This session was actually shot at 8 weeks old! We had originally scheduled it earlier but life happens! You can still feel all the love and capture all those tiny details that as a mama you want to remember forever.
So, “when do most of your families shoot their session?’“ I would say most of my in-home newborn sessions are shot when the baby is around 2 weeks to a month old. I have lots of mothers who want to wait a month to get adjusted themselves due to difficult deliveries or maybe they have delivered before and know it takes themselves awhile to feel better. They all produce the same quality images! It is really up to my clients as to what works best for them. Once the baby is born, my families contact me to set up a session date. After that, I typically send dates with availability within the first of month of life.
If you are someone who wants to remember those tiny, brand new details that you can onlyl find those first few days of life, you should consider a Fresh 48 or hospital session after birth. I offer packages for maternity, fresh 48, and newborn sessions. I’d love to chat with you about the best option for your family.
