Why getting photos throughout your baby’s first year is magical.

Documenting your baby’s first year of life is pretty special. 

There is no time like that first year of your child’s life. They change so much with every passing month, and before you know it, they look like an entirely different little person. 

As a family photographer, I offer maternity and newborn clients the opportunity to bundle their sessions. The First Year Plan is a package that includes four sessions and helps you capture the key moments in the first year of your baby’s life. 

How does the First Year Plan work?

You choose between a Petite Maternity or Petite Fresh48 Session. 

Capture the magic of pregnancy or the first moments after meeting your baby face-to-face. 

You get a Full Newborn Session. 

We get beautiful images of connection, snuggles, and impossibly tiny toes. 

You get a Petite Lifestyle Milestone Session. 

This session typically happens between 6–9 months and is only available with this package. If I had to pick a favorite age to photograph, it might be this one—lookout for chubby cheeks and big grins. 

You get a Petite First Year Family Session. 

This family session happens right around your little one’s first birthday, and it’s the perfect way to celebrate making it through your first year of parenthood!

By grouping the sessions in this way, you’ll get a discount on each session fee, but there are plenty of other reasons to consider getting photos throughout the first year of your baby’s life.

The First Year Plan is one of my favorite bundles because it is so incredibly special to watch a family grow over the course of an entire year. We all get very comfortable with one another, so each shoot feels like a reunion, and things are extra-relaxed and fun. The ease totally shows in the images!

Here are some of the other awesome things about documenting this year in your lives: 

• There is so much variety in the four sessions. Your baby will be entirely different at each stage, whether in the womb, first-born or rocking the confidence of a one-year-old. It’s so cool to look back on these memories. 

• First Year Plan families lock in guaranteed spots on my calendar for all those sessions. In busy seasons like fall, this can be a lifesaver. 

• You can add film to some or all of the sessions and get a tear-jerker of a short film that captures the growth of your family from bump to birthday cake. 

• It is the perfect way to get art-quality images to create a keepsake album for you or to gift to grandparents or even your child when they grow up.

Petite Maternity Session – Early Fall 

We shot maternity photos in a beautiful outdoor setting with grassy wooded backdrops and gorgeous lakeside spots to choose from. Mom sent me a photo of her gorgeous dress and I suggested adding some extra drama and variety to the images with a wide-brimmed hat. Dad kept the look classic and laid-back with a white, long-sleeved crewneck and jeans. Sunrise light and fall colors really brought this session life.

Full Newborn Session – Winter

Reuniting with this new family of three for their cozy at-home newborn session was so special. They chose gorgeous soft and flowy neutrals from my Client Closet for Mom, and Baby girl. Dad brought a bit of color with a simple blue button-down. Their sweet girl was perfection in every shot and even rocked some Client Closet headbands and caps like she was meant to model. It was such a joy to capture her petite features, adorable expressions, and her parents’ love for her.  

Petite Lifestyle Milestone – Summer 

We headed back outdoors in August for a petite milestone session in the gorgeous sunrise light. It was worth getting up and out early because baby girl was the happiest little nugget the whole time. Bold pieces from the Client Closet looked incredible against the field backdrop in summer light. At just about eight months, this sweet girl was all smiles and personality. She loved exploring and showing off her new sitting skills! Milestone sessions are always some of favorites capture as the baby’s personality really starts to emerge.

First Year Family Session – Late Fall 

After knowing this family for a full year and watching their sweet girl grow, it was amazing to get back together this fall. We shot in their new home which gave us plenty of time for snacks and snuggles. It even gave us the chance to capitalize on the Christmas tree backdrop and solve their holiday greeting for the year! The Client Closet made attire easy once more—check out that adorable green romper and golden headband and mom’s gold dress.
