Documenting your baby’s first year of life is pretty special. There is no time like that first year of your child’s life. They change so much with every passing month, and before you know it, they look like an entirely different little person. As a family photographer, I offer maternity and newborn clients the opportunity […]

Best locations for a family session in St. Louis Best locations for a family session in St. Louis, you ask? I am here to help! Shooting a family session can be tricky. In the past I would go over a shot list prior to my session. I would dream up all kinds of amazing scenarios in my head. After a few sessions, I found that this often lead to disappointment on my part. I would get a energetic toddler that […]
When I first started my family photography business, I lacked confidence. I started it on kind of a whim, like most momtogs do. I loved shooting my kids so I figured why not jump into a business. Once I started booking families and had no idea what I was doing. Ha! So, I had tendency to let them take the lead. I would let clients choose locations, shooting times, and gave no direction on clothing or expectations. I bet you can guess how I would leave these sessions, sooo unhappy. I knew that I wasn’t producing the quality images I wanted to provide my families and what they truly deserved. I knew that I needed make some changes and could do so much better.
I was recently sitting down with friends talking about how we felt during our pregnancy, mainly the things we loved and hated. I was shocked at how differently each of my friends felt during pregnancy and even how much that varied pregnancy to pregnancy. I can totally attest to that after carrying 3 children!! Each of my pregnancies carried different stressors and different joys. The one thing I don’t have from all of my pregnancy is photos.
This family maternity session was the perfect way to officially kick off my spring season. This sweet mama was due with her third baby girl a few weeks following our session. How stunning does she look??? I know I didn’t look this good 2 weeks before my due date with my third baby.
I’ve been excited to share this sunset maternity session since we shot it. You may remember this adorable family from their in-home lifestyle session I shot this past winter. Felise is the owner of Felise Photography and one of the great friends that I have made on this photography journey. I was over the moon thrilled to shoot her maternity session.
I spent the morning with this sweet family of 3 for an in-home maternity session. We were hoping for an outdoor session but with these frigid temperatures, we opted for indoors. I was secretly thrilled to be able to shoot at their home. I love seeing familes in their own element!! Plus, I think capturing those last days as a family of 3 in your own home is so priceless.
