I spent a lovely morning with one of my favorite families, who happens to also be my neighbors. Elizabeth wanted a different setting for her family session vs. the typical tall grass or field, I was thrilled! I suggested doing something their family loves to do the weekend. We started our morning off at the local bakery eating sweet treats, next we explored a bit outside, and then headed toward the train station to watch the train come in. It was the perfect morning, except for the heat. HA! I loved being able to experience what this family does frequently on a Saturday morning. I hope these images will be something the whole family can use to remember their time together at these special places. One of the best parts, was after the session the sweet treat I received from my neighbor, a pregnant girl’s dream come true! I highly recommend checking out Great Harvest in Downtown Kirkwood, their pumpkin chocolate chip loaf is amazing!!! It went very quickly in our house!!!
I know I preach it over and over again but your family session should be reflective of YOUR family! I love a beautiful field with amazing sunset light just as much as the next person but that is not the only option for a family session. I really love shooting something different and something that means something to each family. If your family hates being in fancy clothes and being outdoors, why plan that kind of session. You can have fun and create images that you and your family will love! Your family session should truly be about your family, not the just location.
