Once a client books a lifestyle newborn session with me, one of the first question I often get asked is “When is the best time or age for our session?”. When you are choosing lifestyle newborn, you are getting the flexibility of timing. This means you are not stuck squeezing in your session during the first week or so of life, like in posed newborn sessions.
As a lifestyle newborn photographer, one of the number one questions I get is “What if my newborn won’t go to sleep during our session?. My answer is usually something along the lines of “don’t worry, we let the baby lead the session”. When I started out as a newborn photographer, I spent so much time trying to get babies to sleep soundly or lay exactly where and how I wanted them. This process only lead to stress from the baby, me, and the parents. It felt SO unnatural to me as mother and photographer.
You may remember this family from their maternity session this past winter. I loved being able to get to know Raquel and John a bit prior to their newborn session. I spent a lovely Sunday morning getting to know their first born, baby girl, Harlowe!
I spent a lovely Saturday morning with this new family of five. This lifestyle newborn session really represents why I love shooting this type of photography. When I arrived, the family was still getting everything together to get the session started. I took a quick tour of their adorable home to check out the lighting and such. There were so many cute little spots throughout their home that I simply loved.
