I don’t know about you, but all I want is soup when it’s cold and snowing outside. Family-friendly soups are a must in my household. Although, I will admit my kids eat most foods. I am sharing 5 family-friendly soups that we all love during the winter. The best part is they are quick and easy to make! I typically make most of these recipes in my instant pot, but you can also make these soups on your stovetop or crockpot.
This soup is probably my favorite of the bunch but also the most work. If you’re anything like me, I hate chopping. I typically save this soup for a day my husband can help me cut up all the veggies. Besides the chopping, this soup is very hearty and loaded with veggies! I typically sub-sweet potatoes and used diced tomatoes instead of whole tomatoes. I have made this one in both my crockpot and instant pot.
This soup makes your soul feel good! It is warm and has just the right flavors. Also, there is something about eating kale that makes me feel VERY healthy. I was a little worried my kids wouldn’t eat this soup, but they loved it. My youngest couldn’t get enough. I make this in my instant pot with frozen chicken breast when I forget about dinner. My family hates cilantro, so I usually omit that from this soup.
Taco Tuesday, anyone? This is one of those soups that I dump and go. Perfect for those busy weeknight meals or when you are low on food. I have made many variations of this soup, adding whatever beans or veggies we have laying around. We usually top with shredded cheese and crushed up tortilla chips—the perfect taco Tuesday quick night meal.
I have to include chicken noodle soup, right? This one is warm, hearty, and so easy to make! Since I typically make these soups on a busy night, I used chicken breast instead of a whole chicken. You could also use a rotisserie chicken in here too. I added some more spices such as thyme and parsley. We also added noodles to each bowl before the serving. Gluten-free noodles worked perfectly for us in this soup!
Ok, so this one is not technically a soup, but who doesn’t love chili when it is cold outside?? This is my go-to last-minute meal…we had this last night. I sautéed the turkey up quickly in the instant pot (If you haven’t noticed by now, I am a big fan of the instant pot) and threw everything else in. It is so quick and easy. We add white beans to ours, but it would great without. I suggest doubling this one. My kids were fighting over the last of it last night because I didn’t.
These soups help me get dinner on the table quickly during these cold and snowy days that we are stuck inside. I hope you and your family enjoy some of these suggestions. I would love to know which is your favorite!
