Family photographers all have a different way of approaching a family session. Finding the one that suits your family is the most important. Study their portfolio and talk with them about their shooting style. I am not the photographer for every family and I am totally ok with that! There are all kinds of family photographers out there that range from traditional to documentary , with everything in between. I find myself somewhere in the middle, with a lean towards documentary vs. traditional.
Sharing a really fun in-home lifestyle session today! When Allison contacted me for an in-home family session, I was thrilled…and slightly nervous! She is a local, super talented photographer. I love love love photographing other photographers but I am usually a giant ball of nerves leading up to the session. Yet, this sweet family made me fell right at home and it felt like I was photogprahjng my own family.
The best thing about lifestyle newborn sessions is you have more flexibility with the timing of your session. This baby boy was 7 weeks old for his newborn session. My main goal when shooting these sessions, is to capture your family as they are. That may mean a sleeping baby, an awake baby, or even both! We don’t spend hours trying to get your baby sleep.
It has been a month or so since I have shot an in-home lifestyle newborn session. I forgot how much I missed them! This all boy session was a great way to get back into my newborn groove.
You may remember this family from their maternity session this past winter. I loved being able to get to know Raquel and John a bit prior to their newborn session. I spent a lovely Sunday morning getting to know their first born, baby girl, Harlowe!
In St. Louis, you never know if a January evening will bring sunshine with warm temps or bitter cold and clouds. For this winter maternity session, we were able to get outside! Although we didn’t have the sun, we were happy with the slightly warmer temps. This first time mom, made my job so easy.
